NEW MARSKE 1 - 4 NUNTHORPE
Sunday 3, February 2008

Yet another home game played away in typical February blustery conditions, a better warm up this week with the lads more focused, might have had something to do with keeping warm, a decent start to the match with the wind at our backs but we soon fell into our old ways of hoofing the ball clear instead of playing the ball out giving Adam no chance to get hold of the ball and bringing our attacking midfielders into the game, before long we were 1-0 down, nice football from Nunthorpe but the defence could have been better, created an excellent chance for Tom from the one throw in all game that we used the routines unfortunately his shot missed the target. We conceded another couple of soft goals before half time due to poor communication and lack of concentration leaving us 3-0 down at the break. A tactical swap at half time to give us more of a creative edge soon did the trick as Kieran was clearly fouled , dam cooly slotted home the resulting penalty, with the wind behind their backs Nunthorpe put our defence under pressure but some committed defending from Joe & Bav kept them at bay until a long range shot gave Alex no chance, a good second half performance against the best side in the league, seems to be the story of our season, lots of things to work on it training but overall a reasonable performance.

NEW MARSKE 8 - 0 CALIFORNIA BOYS
Sunday 21, October 2007

New Marske under 13s played California Boys at home in perfect weather conditions, an 8-0 demolition followed by the home team with an exellent all round display. New Marske created chance after chance from the whistle first from Kieran Jankowski linking up well with Tom Allan on the right flank. Shortly after Tom Allan put Adam Say clear in the box but he missed from close range. A succesion of corners saw the first goal scored by James Graham with a header, minutes later Adam Say made it 2-0 with a strike from 20 yards in the top corner. New Marske continued to push forward playing great passing football to keep posession. just before half time Kieran Jankowski shot from 15 yards to see it hit the crossbar. The second half started in much the same way with New Marske looking for more goals, Ben Young scored the third from outside the box with a great strike giving the goal keeper no chance. The fourth goal came as Adam Say put Ben Young through to slot home. When California Boys pressed forward New Marske snuffed out any attack with some great defending. James Graham was instrumental in midfield with some great movement on the ball. Ben Young scored his hatrick to make it 5-0. Adam Say struck again to beat the keeper from a tight angle to make it 6-0. Scott Blain put more pressure on the defence with another great shot from distance to make it 7-0, a poor goal kick from the keeper saw James Graham latch onto the loose ball to drill home to make the final score 8-0.

BARNARD CASTLE 1 -2 NEW MARSKE
Sunday 14, October 2007

New Marske travelled to Barnard Castle to hopefully secure three points. From the first whistle New Marske put pressure on the home defence breaking them down time and again with some great flowing football. It wasn't long before New Marske scored when Sean Dolan threaded in inch perfect pass to Tom Allan to slot home from close range making it 1-0 to the visitors. New Marske continued to pressure the home defence and were unlucky not to extend their lead when a first time shot from Ben Young was saved at the second attempt as it was about to cross the line. On the few occasions Barnard Castle mounted an attack New Marske defence were there to snuff out the danger, with some good goal keeping from Alex Puckrin, another solid centre half display from Scott Blain with Joe Bell, Robert Marshall and Conor Farrell well in control. James Graham in midfield was outstanding alongside Ben Bavin winning almost every ball whilst Sean Dolan put in a good display down the left hand side. Another attack from the right wing saw Kieran Jankowski shoot wide, then Tom Allan shot on target only to see it saved. The second half began with Barnard Castle searching for an equalizer which duly came to level the score at 1-1. New Marske continued to push forward with Kieran Jankowski shooting just wide. with 10 mins of the second half played Adam Say came on for Ben Young to search for the second goal, New Marske were creating the better chances a great ball from James Graham on the left wing to Adam Says feet saw a great strike just past the post. Then with minutes to go Adam Say struck the ball from 20 yards rattling the cross bar the ball coming back for Tom Allan to tap in.

NEW MARSKE 1 - 1 BISHOP AUCKLAND ST MARY'S 'A'
Sunday 30, September 2007

Both teams played some excellent attacking football from the kick off. With five minutes played Bishop Auckland came close to scoring from a corner, which was headed over the crossbar. New Marske started to pass the ball about in midfield showing great skill and composure. Twenty minutes into the first half Bishop Auckland had a free kick only to see it go wide. Shortly after that they scored with a well struck shot from 20 yards to make it 0-1. New Marske keeper Matthew Ferrier pulled off the first of many great saves to deny Bishop Auckland a second goal just before half time. The second half saw Bishop Auckland pushing forward with numerous attempts on goal only to be denied by the New Marske keeper. A great run from midfield by Adam Say saw him beat two defenders only for the keeper to save from close range. On the counter attack Bishop Auckland ran down the right wing striking wide into the side netting. Two well timed substitutions from new Marske saw them equalize midway through the second half with a great strike from Scott Blain into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Both teams defended well until the final whistle with score at 1-1. A well earned point for New Marske.

With five minutes played with Nunthorpe on the attack brought the first of many saves from New Marske keeper Matty Ferrier from a header. Nunthorpe then added a second shortly after. Adam Say and Tom Allan linked up together with a strike on goal to see it go wide. Nunthorpe on the attack scored with a tap in to make it 3-1. just before half time New Marske captain James Graham ran down the right wing to score with a great strike to make it 3-2. Three goals within quick succesion took Nunthorpes goal tally to 6-2 in the second half. New Marske continued forward to try to break down Nunthorpes defence looking for a third goal. A tactical change saw Tom Allan come off and Ben Young switching from the left to partner Adam Say up front both continued to push forward. a great run by Adam Say beating two defenders then striking with his weaker right foot brought a comfortable save from the nunthorpe keeper. NEW MARSKE 2 - 1 ST FRANCIS 2000
Sunday 16, September 2007

In the first cup match of the season and with the wind playing havoc for most of the match, New Marske pushed forward with some good moves in an attempt break down the St Francis defence. Kieran Jankowski opened the scoring with a great run down the right wing to put the ball in the top corner out of reach of the keeper. St. Francis fought back and against the run of play New Marske scored a second goal by midfielder Scott Blain who blasted the ball into bottom corner. The second half started with St. Francis pushing forward with wind in their favour in an attempt to score a much deserved goal. St Francis were rewarded with a penalty for a hand ball in the box. Robert Spence duly scored from the spot bringing the score to 2-1, a substutution was made by New Marske bringing off ben young and replacing him with Tom Allen up front along side Adam Say in an attempt to score a third goal to put the game beyond St.Francis. Tom Allen came close when he latched onto a through ball taking it around the keeper but could not finish it. some good attacking play by St.Francis could have levelled the scoring but for tight defence and good goal keeping skills from Matty Ferrier. overall a hard fought match by both teams with New Marske coming out winners.

NEW MARSKE 8 - 1 KADER
Sunday 9, September 2007

It took debut boy Robert Marshall just 2 min 19 sec to score the U13's first goal of the new season. New Marske were driven forward at every opportunity by their excellent Captain James Graham. Pressure on the Kader defence was intense and a string of super corners delivered by Kieran Jankowski created chances. Tom Allan terrorised the visitors defence and scored two excellent goals. Ben Young showed his class with a well executed goal to give the home side a deserved 4 - 0 half time lead.

The back 4 of Sean Dolan, Ben bavin, Joe Bell & conor Farrell had easily dealt with the Kader attacks so that keeper Matty Ferrier had a quiet 1st half. A tactical change at the start of the second half saw the home side put on substitute Adam Say on as a 3rd striker whilst the defence adapted well changing to 3 at the back. Scott Blain was creating chances with some clever through balls, never more so than with a quickly taken free kick to create another chance. The workrate and skill of James Graham was rewarded with a headed corner from another excellent delivery then with a truly unstoppable shot from the edge of the box. Matty Ferrier made a great save from a rare Kader attack but had no chance with the Kader goal. Adam Say got his first 2 goals of the season, the first a good header from a corner, the second a lovely chip over the keeper.
