MIDDLESBROUGH
3 - 0 NEW MARSKE
Saturday 15, March 2008 |
In what should have been the final game of the season, New marske put
in a committed gritty performance against a Middlesbrough side who were
physically bigger and fitter. In the first 15 Min's New Marske had looked
deadly with some great play down both wings they were looking threatening.
Middlesbrough stepped up a gear physically and skillfully with New Marske
finding creating chances hard. In a game where we need a committed and
hard line ref unfortunately we didn't have one as he bottled it. So Middlesbrough
with there physical presence used it to there advantage, as the ref watched
on New marske found themselves pushed and pulled all over the place. New
marske did not let this get to them and took everything that Middlesbrough
gave out. The half came to a close with the game deservadly tied.
Second
half kicked off with much of the same with girls picking up knocks and
the loss of Beth Speke, The girls coped brilliantly with the possitinal
changes. After Ashleigh Mclean had been taken out after beating 2 girls
to put herself clean through and nothing given, New Marske knew it would
take a major effort to get someting out of this ref. With the loss of
Ruby `the Rock` Robinson in the center of defence, Middlesbrough took
the initative. A great strick from outside the box was put away past Ellie
Norris into the bottom right corner. It wasn't long till Middlesbrough
doubled there Lead. New Marske still fought and made a few chances. Soon
after Middlesbrough had got there third Amy Guy made a great run beating
2 defenders was clean through and was blatently taken down by the last
man, with only a freekick and no card, or even a word to the player given
New Marske lost heart. After a great freekick taken by Emily Jones was
saved that was New Marske's last chance. The dying moments Middlesbrough's
better fitness showed as they controlled the tempo and the ball.
Girls of the Game Ruby Robinson was a steady influence in defence was
missed when she went off. Ellie Norris superb goalkeeping display.

MARSKE 0 - 3 NORTON AND STOCKTON
Saturday 1, March 2008 |
looking at the score line you might have think it was a one sided game,
which it was but it was New Marske who dominated. The shot tally was 12-5
in New Marske's favor. There was nothing special about any of Norton's
goals all came from a ball over the top, that wasn't dealt with by the
New Marske defence and put into the back of the net. New Marske in what
was one of there best performances, were ruing the scoring opportunities,
that came there way. Great play from Steph Bradley, Emily Jones &
Hugil, Jess Galloway, and Lucy Wall, created many chances but unfortunatly
none were put away. Great defensive play from Amy Guy saved New Marske
from a 4th, when she ran back and cleared off the line.
Girl of the Game: Ashleigh Durance Another superb display at right back |

BELLES
2 - 1 NEW MARSKE, League Cup
Saturday 23, February 2008 |
In a very close cup game where the wind was definatley the third man in
a game where both teams started with 10. Calli took the lead early in
the first half with the wind behind them, they jumped on the ball after
some defences lapses and passed the ball past Katie in the New Marske
goal. New Marske coped with heavy pressure as Calli used the wind to their
advantage, they were able to carve out some chances on the counter. Calli
doubled their lead near the end of the second half when they found themself
clear in the box and a simple tap past the keeper. In the second half
New Marske used the wind to their advantage and look dangerous going forward,
after great running down the right and a quality cross into the cross
was missed by the keeper Jess Galloway was on hand to finish into the
empty net. New Marske were unlucky not to add to their tally with several
corners from Emily Jones on the left caused many problems. Emily and Amy
Guy were both unlucky not to score as both hit powerful drives which unfortunatly
went past the post.
Girl of the Game: Ashleigh Durrant was a steady influence in defence after
twisting her ankle in training. |
FERRYHILL
TOWN 2 - 3 NEW MARSKE
Saturday 16, February 2008 |
In a bottom of the table clash on a nearly unplayable pitch, New Marske
enjoyed its 2 win in the league. Playing down hill in the first half New
Marske looked lively, with a great controlling performance from Emily
Hugill New Marske created many chances. The first goal came from a corner
from the right, birthday girl Emily Jones swung in a deceptive ball which
lopped over the keeper and into the back of the net. Amy Guy who played
her first game after recently signing on was able to cap a good performance
with a goal. After some good work down the right by Steph Bradley the
ball was played into the box, Jess had her shot saved and Amy ran in and
scored on the rebound. She was unlucky not to double her tally shortly
after another superb ball was missed by everybody and running in at the
far post Amy was unable to get the decisive touch. Ferryhill looked good
on the break but poor finishing and great keeping kept them at bay.
In
the second half Ferryhill used the hill to there advantage and looked
dangerous. new Marske extended there lead when great play by Emily Jones
and Hugill left Jess with enough space to rifle a shot into the left hand
corner. As tiredness set in New Marske found themselve stuck in there
own half, Ferryhill's first came after a great throughball came from midfield
left there striker free in the box to calmy flick the ball past Ellie.
The second was a wonderfull chip from there left from almost outside the
box. New Marske dug in and managed to grind out the result.
Girl of the Game: Ruby Robinson was a steady influence in defence after
a great right wing display. |

MARSKE 1 - 3 BILLINGHAM TOWN
Saturday 26, January 2008 |
In what was a very even game. New Marske were unlucky not come out with
at least a point. With Chances at both ends New Marske Lacked the finishing
of there rivals. Great Link Up Play provided several Chances with both
Jess Galloway and Steff Bradley looking lively. The 3-1 score line was
not a far indication of the game. New Marske's goal came from great play
in the midfield from the Emily's (Jones and Hugil), set Jess Galloway
into the box on the right . Who placed a lovely shot into the left corner
of the goal.
Girl of the Game: Lucy Wall who played solidly in centre midfield, Then
looked a constant threat when placed on the left wing. |
NORTON
AND STOCKTON 3 - 1 NEW MARSKE
Saturday 1, December 2007 |
In what was a real 6 pointer and could have seen New marske move above
there opponents if they had won. It didnt start well after some defensive
mistakes and a acurate long ball game by Stockton. New Marske found themselves
2 down after 15 mins. Then after some good play down the wing a brilliant
ball into the box found Steff Bradley who turned her defender and scored
a stunner off the right post. Stockton kept up the pressure and extended
there lead just before half time. In the second half New marske started
to control the game. unfortunatley through stubborn defending and a few
missed chances, New Marske could not find the break through and get back
into the game.
Girl
of the Game: Leah Dimmick after a great right wing display |
MIDDLESBROUGH
12
- 1 NEW MARSKE
Saturday 24, November 2007 |
New Marske again found themselves with only ten players against Boro.
New Marske started well, holding there own and showing boro they weren't
gonna roll over for them. After Boro got there first, New Marske went
out on the attack and after some great play by Emily Jones and Stef Bradley
won a free kick just outside the box. A well struck free kick despatched
by Emily Jones, lobbed the boro keeper and leveled the game up. After
some mistakes New Marske Found themselves 4-1 down, which was not a fair
half time score. Second half as the cold started to get to them and after
a early boro goal, it all started going down hill.
Girl
of the Game: Ellie Norris, brilliant goal keeping display |

BELLES 3 - 1 NEW MARSKE
Saturday 17, November 2007 |
New Marske put in an excellent performance and can consider themselves
unlucky not to come away with a point. After a good start with a great
run down the right straight from kick off unfortunatley with no one in
the box to meet the following cross. Cali then went up the other end and
won a penalty. It didnt take New Marske long to get back into the game.
some great ply down the right and a great turn and shot from Lily Mcquade,
nestled in the bottom right corner. It was a even game even up to Cali's
second goal just before half time. In the second half with the wind behind
them Cali used it to there advantage. New Marske held there own and carved
out several chances, while keeping Cali at bay. In the last minute Cali
won a corner and unfortunatley scored from it. |

MARSKE 1 - 8 MIDDLESBROUGH
Saturday 10, November 2007 |
New Marske started the game against a very strong Boro team with only
10 players due to injury and sickness. After a period of constant pressure
from the away team it was inevitable that mistakes would be made and two
or three soft goals were conceded but also some fantastic finishing and
football from the away team gave them a 6-0 half time lead.
Still
the girls refused to give in and after regrouping at half time put in
a fantastic battling performance in the second half. Boro had to really
work hard to claim another two goals and certainly knew they had been
in a game, with several players having to be treated for running repairs
due to some robust New Marske tackling. The midfield trio of Emily H,
Emily J and Steph worked incredibly hard all game and even managed to
put a great move together in the last few minutes which allowed Lucy Davison
to finish off. Only the second goal Boro had conceded so far this season.
The whole team deserves credit for the way they defended in the second
half in particlular Ellie who made some great saves and Katy Phenix who
was outstanding in the centre of defence.

MARSKE 7 - 3 FERRYHILL TOWN
Saturday 27, October 2007 |
After a fairly even first 10 minutes Ferryhill took the lead when their
two lively forwards created an opening and a good finish gave Ellie no
chance in the home goal. New Marske took the kick off and forced Ferryhill
back with some good attacking play. After a period of pressure Emily Jones
put a great through ball between the defence and Leah Dimmick ran onto
the ball and finished off in style with a firm shot into the bottom corner.
The home team were now on top and after more good work from the midfield
Leah again was on hand to finsh off a good move. Ferryhill continued to
press but the defence of Beth, Megan and Ashlie were in outstanding form
with Ellie in goal stopping anything that got past them. After breaking
a good move up Beth played a good ball to Lucy who in turn played a great
crossfield pass to Emily H. The ball was crossed into the box and Steph
controlled, swivelled and hit a great shot into the bottom corner to give
her side a 3-1 lead going into half time.
Steph got another goal shortly after the restart when a deflected shot
looped into the net. Ferryhill to their credit continued to battle and
pulled a goal back. Emily Hugill increased the lead when she smashed in
an unstoppable shot from just outside the box but Ferryhill responded
scoring from a free kick when, for once, the defence failed to cut out
the danger. Again New Marske took the game to Ferryhill and Lucy Davison
received the ball on the left hand side just inside her half. The defence
pushed out for offside but Lucy took the ball herself and ran all the
way into the box before hitting a great shot into the roof of the net
to cap off a great personal performance. Emily Jones completed another
strong game by hitting home from close range to send her team into seventh
heaven! Player of the match went to Megan after a storming performance
in the centre of defence.

MARSKE 0 - 3 EAST DURHAM
Saturday 6, October 2007 |
In a tight fought game New Marske can count themselves unlucky to finish
up on the end of a 3 - 0 defeat. Their efforts certainly deserved better
and only an outstanding display from the Durham keeper meant her team
went home with three points.
The weather couldn't have been any better for the first league game of
the season. The first 20 minutes were pretty even with both teams having
chances but it was Durham that took the lead after a mix up in the home
defence. Shortly afterwards Durham got a free kick outside the box and
although Ellie got two hands to it was unable to keep it out. New Marske
battled hard and Megan had a couple of shots but was unable to beat the
keeper.
New Marske pretty much dominated the second half, both Emily' Jones and
Hugill were working hard driving their team on in the centre of midfield
ably assisted by Lucy Davison and Lucy Wall who was having a fantastic
game considering she missed all of last season with injury. The defence
of Leah, Ruby, Ashley and Beth were confidently dealing with any threat
from Durham now with Ellie in goal having a quiet half after making some
great saves in the first half. Steph Bradley was putting some pressure
on the Durham defence and after a good link up with Hayley was crudely
taken out in the box. Meagn took the resulting penalty but yet again the
Durham keeper came to her teams rescue. In the dying seconds with New
Marske pushing for a goal they got caught on the break to make it 3-0
to Durham.
A brave effort from the girls who should have a good season ahead if they
they keep up this type of performance.

of the Match: Lucy Wall |
